March 08 ,2010 - Ambassador Jawad speaks at the International Women's Day celeberation in New York. "Afghan women have come a long way, but they are not yet out of the woods. Under the gender apartheid of the Taliban, women were deprived of every basic human right. They were even forbidden from wearing bright colors, and Afghan children were denied the innocent joy of flying a kite. Today, Afghans enjoy more political, economic and social freedom than at any time in the history of our country. Among all the achievements, I think, nothing is more beautiful than the sight of Afghan school girls in their black and white uniforms, attending class under a tree in a small village." Ambassador Jawad Helps Open New Afghan Exhibit at
Library of Congress

Febraury 23 ,2010 - H.E.Ambassador Jawad was among the guests of honor at the Library of Congress, where a multimedia exhibit displaying a select hand-painted scrolls and letters received in the thousands by Afghanistan's most popular radio station, RFE/RL's Radio Azadi, went on display. Ambassador Jawad later told the crowd that the papers were evidence of Afghanistan’s true treasures; the people’s will. He said, “As you go over some of the letters, you will notice that the “Voices from Afghanistan” showcase the beauty and resilience of the Afghan culture, as well as the hope of our people.” (Read More...)
H.E.Foreign Minister Dr. Rassoul receives US Congressional Delegation

Febraury 17 ,2010 - H.E. Foreign Minister Dr. Zalmai Rassoul received a visiting US Congressional delegation, headed by Mr. Glenn Nye, (D-VA) of the House Armed Services Committee. Foreign Minister Dr.Rassoul highlighted the importance of the Afghanistan-US strategic partnership for achieving security and stability in Afghanistan.
