The Royal Netherlands Embassy and the Embassy of Afghanistan will present a stirring collection of images that document everyday life in Afghanistan. The photo exhibit by Dutch photographer Hans Stakelbeek, entitled In Afghanistan, will be displayed for the first time in the United States from September 10 through October 4, 2008 at the Touchstone Gallery in Washington, D.C. August 24, 2008 - In a sign of continued growth and development, the Afghan National Army (ANA) is set to take control of security in Kabul on August 28, 2008. The handover will mark the first transfer of responsibilities from international forces to the ANA.The ANA is being built into a strong, well-respected security force. August 24, 2008 - When the exhibit "Afghanistan: Hidden Treasures of the National Museum, Kabul" opened to the public at the National Gallery of Art in May 2008, its 228 pieces and the story they told dazzled visitors. Almost 200,000 people have since walked through the doors of the National Gallery of Art to learn about an Afghanistan beyond the headlines, one of dynamic history, diverse cultures and enduring bravery.
